March 2016 Vanuatu Fishing Report
With very settled weather and a water temp of about 26 degrees the fishing has been very good fishing report here Vanuatu.
Yellow fin have been still thick and fast mainly around the F.A.D’s and up to 40kg. Ocean Blue and ourselves have been doing well on them with some days catching up to 4 over 30kg on a 4 hour charter.
Wahoo are also fairly consistent but not overly big at the moment. Most of these have been fairly close in and very accessible on short charters.
Crusoe Fishing have been catching their fair share of yellowfin and marlin as well.
The marlin fishing has been also very good. Most of them are reportedly being caught to the south of Port Vila and a few blues have been in excess of 200kg.
The Vanuatu Marlin classic is rolling around again and this year is looking to be a ripper with in excess of $55,000NZD up for grabs. Already there are 2 teams from New Zealand, one from New Caledonia and one from Fiji entered. Tournament organizer Ron Pattenden of Blue Marlin Lodge has expressed his thanks to local business and individuals for the assistance and support.

There is still a few boats available for charter if anyone would like to come a fish this great tournament.
Several of the resorts that were damaged and then renovated after the 2015 cyclone “PAM” are due to re-open in the next couple of months. Iririki Island Resort has had a full refit as with Holiday Inn and there will be some great deals in the pipe line so if you are thinking about coming fishing here in Port Vila, Vanuatu there has never been a better time.
